Fercell Weima UK Wins Carpet Recycling Challenge

This medium sized, family run, company started business offering skip hire services across two counties and through organic growth has become one of the largest regional processors of man-made fibre, including carpet and floor coverings.

The success of their carpet collection service was becoming a problem with current machinery is unable to keep pace with the daily inbound volumes, hence purchase of a factory refurbished WEIMA Spider1500 90kW single shaft shredder from Fercell Weima UK. The installation has increased processing capacity by 46%.

The Weima Spider1500 90kW single shaft shredder is supplied with a 40mm screen and being conveyor ready the installation included an IMRO rising in-feed conveyor with over band magnet and “L” type discharge conveyor leading to a hopper. The over band magnet captures tramp ferrous material to improve the premium paid for quality recyclate.

Power consumption savings of more than 30% of over their old shredding system was well within the parameter allowing this installation eligible for an energy efficiency grant.

Currently all processed materials are supplied to a RDF source with a smaller amount to equestrian applications.
